The seventh cycle of Raíces de Limón brought together ballet, circus practice, and contemporary dance, offering participants a multidisciplinary approach to movement and artistic expression.
Throughout the cycle, the girls explored different movement techniques, developed their physical and creative skills, and worked collectively on a choreographic piece directed by Kate Haughton.
The cycle concluded on May 3 with a public performance, where participants shared the results of their creative process and the work developed throughout the program.

Raíces de Limón is a dance initiative that aims to foster creativity, technical skills, individual development, and cultural exchange among children and young people from the Popoyo area. With a focus on contemporary dance practice, the program provides technical, theoretical, and creative tools that allow participants to express themselves. Our goal is to provide education around dance and to strengthen community ties creating collective spaces for exploring creativity.
The program is designed for children and young people living in the Popoyo area. Our approach is research-based, using dance to explore themes of identity, gender, community, territory, belonging, cultural exchange & social inclusion.
Since July 2023, Raíces de Limón has offered participants opportunities to take part in dance and circus workshops, live performances, and festivals. In 2023, the group participated in two social circus festivals in Granada and Popoyo, organized with the support of the Nicaraguan Circus Network, where they exchanged experiences with other young circus artists from across the country. In May 2024, the group presented the piece El canto de las oropéndolas at the 2024 Environmental Biodiversity Festival, organized by La Casa del Artista in the city of Estelí. In 2025, participants traveled to León for a cultural exchange with a stilt-walking collective. In 2026, the group visited the Rubén Darío National Theater in Managua to experience a professional contemporary dance performance.
Beyond providing access to artistic education, Raíces de Limón seeks to inspire a new generation of young creators, encouraging participants to recognize their own creative potential and take an active role in shaping the cultural life of their communities.
